Paulo Costanzo can’t contain his excitement. “I have a maid!” says the Toronto-born actor, who plays Matt LeBlanc’s brainy nephew on Joey. “She does my laundry and even makes my bed.” His cleaning lady and new home in Beverly Hills, Calif., are in sharp contrast to his less than glamorous preJoey days in Toronto. “My place had tilted floors like a funhouse,” says Costanzo, 25, best known for his role on Road Trip. “And I had garbage-especially Pizza Pizza boxes-everywhere.” Although he often craves the Cana-

dian pizza joint, it’s a small sacrifice considering the Friends spinoff is the biggest break of his career. “Spinoffs usually suck,” says Costanzo, who’s using David Schwimmer’s old dressing room. “But this show is different. We’re using many of the same writers, directors and producers from Friends and taping the show on the same stage. It’s more like a sequel.” So when do he and LeBlanc plan to pull the famous Friends negotiating trick of demanding equal salaries? “Maybe,” laughs Costanzo,

“by the year 3000.”
