Take Police Academy, add a pinch of Porky’s, and set it in a hospital. What you have left is Intern Academy, a new gross-out film written and directed by SC7V alumnus Dave Thomas-who also guest stars. The film, in theatres on Sept. 10, tells the tale of six medical interns doomed to train at St. Albert’s hospital, the worst medical training facility in the country. The interns-played by a talented group of young, unknown Canadian actors who improvised their roles-contend with everything from psychotic instructors to abusive patients and routine sexual humiliation. Food fights with human organs, projectile feces and hot-
tub parties with the hospital administrator (Dan Aykroyd) round out the action. “Some scenes are kind of gory,” says Thomas, “but it’s not like those reality medical shows that make you want to throw up.” Not quite, but pretty close.
