As with most good fashion models, it’s tough to tell Emma Hansen’s age from some of her photos. But talking with the daughter of Amanda, and Canada’s Man in Motion Rick Hansen, you realize she’s still very much a teenager. One who loves playing volleyball (despite the occasional unsightly bruise) and tearing apart her sisters’ pajamas to practice her sewing. “I’ve always loved fashion and I used to carry a scrapbook to sketch the clothes I’d see other people wearing,” says Hansen, 14. “I have a whole book of my ideas.”

But a future in design can wait. Right now, Hansen is focusing on modelling. So next month, the Grade 9 studentwhose face has already appeared in Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire-is planning a trip to New York City (with her Canadian agent, Liz Bell), in hopes of landing a U.S. rep-and with that, greater international exposure. “It makes sense to go where the magic happens,” says Hansen, who has travelled extensively since she was seven for Irish dancing competitions. “I’m also pretty excited

about all the shopping.”
