PARADE

Those big plastic garbage bags disappear fast because they have so many unexpected uses. Like the man in Willowdale, Ont., who swiped one of his wife's supply in order to haul away a suit, pair of slacks and six white shirts to the cleaners. Only he set it down on the driveway while he opened the garage door and drove off without it. Along came the garbage truck — and away went another garbage bag to the city incinerator.

Parade pays $5 to $10 for true anecdotes. Address Parade c/o Maclean’s.
