MONEY

Fake bank robbery

Three teenagers in Pattaya, Thailand, were caught passing counterfeit money to a sharp-eyed street vendor last week. When police investigated, they learned that the trio had stolen the money during a break-in at a branch of the Siam Commercial Bank, where a manager had set aside newly found forgeries in an easily accessible drawer.

Pressing agenda

A couple who won $30 million in Britain’s Lotto last week said they planned to buy a new iron. Gabrielle Nash bought clothes at Marks & Spencer and husband Darren bought an equally midmarket Ford Galaxy. They revealed that they have been playing the same numbers since the lottery began in 1994—550 times.
