SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO: IT’S JUST A TV SHOW

The federation last week withdrew from the 51st Eurovision Song Contest after its two ethnic groups failed to agree on who should represent them. When a Montenegrin boy band won the national finals recently, they were booed by a Serbian audience and pelted with bottles. Serbs charged Montenegrins had rigged the vote. Last week’s move was a bid to cool passions: Montenego holds an independence referendum the day after the Eurovision contest.
