With astounding foot speed, Mike “Machine” Mallais broke three bass drum records at the World’s Fastest Drummer competition in Anaheim, Calif., last week. In 60 seconds, the 27-year-old from Miramichi, N.B., slammed out 1,034 drum strokes, shattering Tim “Silver Feet” Waterson’s six-year-old record. Mallais, an aspiring drummer, broke two other records, for endurance, by rocking out 4,595 strokes in five minutes and 13,309 strokes in 15 minutes.
