Since American bassist Steve Kirby moved from New York City a few years ago to teach jazz at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg’s jazz scene has flourished. A big part of the fun is the Cool Monday Night Hang, an open jam session featuring Kirby, his students, and visiting jazz stars on their way through the Peg. The sessions’ old venue closed down, but on March 26 the Hang begins again in a new room, Buccacino’s on Osborne. Paul Wells
