To represent Canada is a privilege—and an opportunity presented to only a few. Ben Johnson was given this opportunity and abused it (“A new race for gold?” Canada, July 9). Why should one who breaks the rules and loses the country’s respect get a second chance? If Johnson runs for Canada, we are sending the wrong message to Canadians and treating our young athletes unfairly.
Any foreigner who spends any time in England and peruses the serious newspapers comes to a conclusion early. It is that the Brits’ favorite hobby is fighting the war over again. The heavy tomes are full of memoirs by old generals who generally spend their time and typewriters bashing rival generals who didn’t quite get it right but got more medals.By Allan Fotheringham4 min
